Website Blocking

The government can order service providers to block websites for infringing links posted by any users.

Risk of Jail for Ordinary Users

It becomes a felony with a potential 5 year sentence to stream a copyrighted work that would cost more than $2,500 to license, even if you are a totally noncommercial user, e.g. singing a pop song on Facebook.

Chaos for the Internet

Thousands of sites that are legal under the DMCA would face new legal threats. People trying to keep the internet more secure wouldn't be able to rely on the integrity of the DNS system.

Get on the phone and call your representative. Express your disapproval. Tell him or her exactly how you feel, and that you don't support this. Tell your friends to call their representatives, their Congressperson, and complain. Mention that you are a registered voter that takes your civic responsibility seriously and that you will use that vote to express your feelings about this.

“We support the bill’s stated goals — providing additional enforcement tools to combat foreign ‘rogue’ websites that are dedicated to copyright infringement or counterfeiting,” the Internet companies wrote in Tuesday’s letter. “Unfortunately, the bills as drafted would expose law-abiding U.S. Internet and technology companies to new uncertain liabilities, private rights of action and technology mandates that would require monitoring of websites.”  The chamber-led coalition in support of the bill includes Walmart, Eli Lilly & Co. and Netflix.

Google and other opponents of the legislation argue that restricting the Internet in the U.S. sets a bad international precedent and that the language defines infringing too broadly.

Art + Fanmix // To Soar On Chromatic Wings

Title: To Soar on Chromatic Wings
Fandom: kradam (american idol)

Excerpt: "His name is Adam, and like his namesake he was the first of his kind.  A true pinnacle of cyberhuman evolution.  An exemplar of the most creative technology ever conceived.  A mesh of metal and meat, perfect in every way.  Except one."

A/N: An oldie but goodie, this is art for the lovely Rebekah Davenport (aka deannawol), and more specifically, for her story To Soar on Chromatic Wings. It's maybe not one of the best known works in this fandom, but it's a great one. Kradam is a fandom with a great breadth of material and off the top of my head there's currently two standout cyberpunk/techno-scifi stories. This is one of them (and possibly the first). I enjoyed working with the author and hope that more people will stumble across this story and show their appreciation. Standard disclaimer for everything applies, but I'll have you know that I had such an amazing time getting this to work. I couldn't be happier with how it came out.

Title: A Thousand Changes: The Core Doesn't Change
Author: Snowynight
Artist: Birddi

I make no profit off any of these works, I don't own the images. Sad, but true.

AN: So... the one time I go looking for Steve Rogers/Tony Stark fic I sign up for their BB. *scratches head* Yeah... I don't even know either. Anyhow, I was so enamored with the idea of comic book art that I kind of went overboard? They're a lot of conceptual choices in my art selections. I really focused on comic styles that emulated the asthetic of Chinese Art under Mao: the hyper-masculinity, the colors, etc. Even the star has a purpose in the art here. The title itself really encapsulates what the landscape of China and the Chinese people are going through, and also what the American people are going through. We are a world come together in a moment of change. Or something. As a person who likes puns and weird humor, I've went a bit out of the box and can only hope the audience isn't left too confused. Mixing the sequential art frames with photos, illustrations, and other images allowed me to work with a freedom I found missing in some of my other works. The composition is stronger in some than others, however. Stuff to work on for next time.

KradamBigBang Art + Mix: Save the Unicorn

Went for a very minimalistic turn with this one. Primarily because the story touches across the entire scope of the human experience and subjecting the story to a few treated stock images seemed a little rough. There's a real sense of california life in this story and while it's adorable and 'flail-worthy' for the fluff moments there's a very real sense of human (and unicorn, as the case is here) drama in the background. I can only hope I didn't miss my mark with this approach.

Wow, but do I love werewolves/werefox stories in this fandom. It just works. I don't know why but ti does. Thank you kradamadness and kradamadcakes for propgating this subgenre of Kradam. This story is sucker punch in your face angst and want and need and pack. Kris is fierce and loyal and it hits the best places. I had a hell of a lot of fun making this art. I got to be experimental and tweak my photo matching skills. Kris is so photogenic at the weirdest angles! Check out the soundtrack, too! P.S. Can you find the hidden wolf?
